Seminar on “Sports Corruption and Integrity”

Volker Hesse attended and successfully completed a seminar at the Católica Global School of Law (Lisbon) on “Sports Corruption and Integrity” within its Executive Education Program. Various important topics were covered in the seminar such as match fixing, doping, safeguarding and harassment.

Lecture at MAS, Lausanne

Lecture given to around 30 international students on selected legal topics in anti-doping. A focus was given this year on the new version of the World Anti-Doping Code which entered into force on 1 January 2021.

Lecture at AISTS, Lausanne

Due to the current situation with the “Coronavirus” outbreak, the lecture was hold online and went well thanks to students who were very disciplined and made the best out of the situation.

Soirée de droit du sport, Zurich

Sports lawyers met in Zurich to an event organized by WISLaw and ASDS to discuss a topic which is quite untypical for lawyers – Blockchain! Thanks to the interesting presentations, participants got an idea on how and where Blockchain could be used in the sports wold.

Lecture at AISTS, Lausanne

Volker Hesse was invited by the AISTS to hold a lecture on legal issues in doping at the Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Administration and Technology. Around 40 students from various countries followed that lecture. It was great to meet this dedicated and talented group of future sports managers.

World Forum of Mediation Centers, Zürich

On 8 and 9 March 2019 the International Association of Lawyers organized a two day seminar in Zurich on the topic of mediation. Lawyers and mediators from around the globe gathered in order to discuss new developments in this field like the “Singapore Convention” which regulates the enforecement of settlement agreemenst resulting from mediation in commercial disputes.

Seminar on Sports law, Lausanne

Kings Chambers organized a seminar on selected sports law issues in Lausanne. Topics such as CAS Arbitration, implementation of CAS Awards and case law in football cases were discussed. High profile participants from the Sports law sector from Switzerland and the United Kingdom attended this seminar which was a wonderful opportunity to get important updates on the topics and to meet and greet colleagues.

AIAF Congres, Lausanne

The International Association for Football Lawyers (AIAF) organized a two-day congres in Lausanne. With a creative and innovative format, there were interesting podium discussions and plenty of opportunities for networking for the top lawyers in football. Among the topics discussed were the new version of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, UEFA Financial Fair Play and Third Party Ownership.
