Volker Hesse has been appointed as a member of the Swiss Chapter of the European Center for Arbitration and Mediation. The Center aims to promote the culture of arbitration and mediation and to administer arbitral and mediation proceedings.

The European Court of Arbitration administers arbitration procedures and mediation under its own rules which have the following main charactarizations:

• mainly a sole arbitrator is appointed and
• an award is issued within one year.
