Seminar “Arbitrating Disputes in a Modern Sports World”, Lausanne

The Swiss Bar Association (FSA/SAV) and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) organize a seminar dedicated to “Arbitrating Disputes in a Modern Sports World” at the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne on 5 and 6 September 2014. VIVA Sports Law – Consulting will be represented by Mariana Jönsson at this seminar.

CAS Conference on mediation, Lausanne

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) organized a very interesting conference on the topic mediation in sports on 16 May 2014 in Lausanne. CAS is mostly known for arbitration related to disputes in sports. However, CAS also offers mediation procedures in which parties may themselves find a solution for their dispute with the help of a mediator. Mediation may in certain cases be an interesting option for parties to settle their dispute in a quick and cost efficient way.

WADA Anti-Doping Symposium, Lausanne

WADA organizes each year a two-day symposium at which Anti-Doping Organizations and other key stakeholders in ant-doping matters gather in order to discuss the newest developments in this field. Volker Hesse was invited to take part at this important event.

Seminar “Le sport face à la santé”, Neuchâtel

The University of Neuchãtel organized together with the Association Suisse de Droit du Sport a seminar titled “Le sport face à la santé”. Various topics such as the new World Anti-Doping Code have been discussed by lawyers and medical doctors.

International Congress on Football Law

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) will organize a congress on football law on 25 and 26 October 2013 where the hottest topics in this field will be discussed by sports lawyers from various countries. VIVA Sports Law will be represented at this event by Volker Hesse.

Lecture at the MSA, Lausanne

Volker Hesse gave a lecture at this year’s Master in Advanced Studies in Sport Administration and Technology (MSA) in Lausanne. In his lecture to about 40 post-graduate students from various coutries, Volker covered various issues connected to doping suspensions and procedures at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Mariana Jönsson joins VIVA Sports Law

Mariana Jönsson, the former Deputy Head of the “Players’ Status and Governance Department” of FIFA, joined VIVA Sports Law. Mariana is a highly professional lawyer with huge experience in the areas of labour disputes between clubs and players, training compensation, solidarity mechanism and contractual disputes between clubs.
